Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Mandatory Lunch Breaks

I work full time for a company, 40 hours a week, 8hrs a day. As a mother I would prefer to work through my lunch hour in order to leave early and be with my child. However my company mandates a 1/2 hour lunch be taken by all full time employees. If you don't take the lunch break they will automatically deduct 1/2 hour from your time. Is it legal for employers to force me to take a lunch break and if I don't to deduct my time?
