Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Pregnancy Discrimination

My supervisor has repeatedly asked me what 'my plans' are after I have my baby, referring to if I plan to return to work after my pregnancy or if I plan to quit before. I know they can't fire me on the basis of my pregnancy, but I wasn't sure what exactly they had the right to ask. Am I obligated to respond to my supervisor's questions? Up to this point, I have repeatedly told my supervisor I have not said anything about my future employment status, and I don't feel I'm under any obligation to do so. Also, can simply asking me these type of questions constitute as discrimination by itself?

Re: Pregnancy Discrimination

Your supervisor is responsible for the operations and performance of his/her department. Whether you stay or leave after your child is born is important to him/her to continue the effective operations of the department. Quit trying to be a victim and be honest with your supervisor. Your employer has paid you and you should be grateful enough to be cooperative with them.
