Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah

Severence Packages

If a company performs a layoff, are they required to provide a severence package?

What steps can be taken to possibly get a severence package out of company if you know they are going to lay you off?

No severance packages are required unless you have a written employment agreement or company policy for them. Without such agreements, a company can fire you at any time. You can always ask for a severance package or offer to not file for unemployment compensation if a package is offered.
