Legal Question in Employment Law in Utah
I work for a company who provides me with a car allowance as I am a traveling salesman. So I'm responsible for my insurance, purchasing the car etc. and then I am reimbursed basically 71% of the cost of the vehicle and for my gas. So the vehicle is for personal and private use as I own it. The company now wants to give me a GPS tracking device so they can track my movements and montior my mileage. Is this legal? does it violate some privacy rights?

My initial impression is that as long as you are the owner of the vehicle, your employer doesn't have the right to monitor your movements. If they want to do that, they would need to change their arrangement so that they own the vehicle.
