Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Utah
Landlords not zoned to rent out part of house.
Ok i have a question on if i would have any recourse on this matter. We have just found out from our landlords that when they had an appraiser come through, the appraiser checked with the city to see if the property was zoned for rental. The landlords live in the lower half and us in the upper. Well they were not allowed to be renting out the house according to the city. We have now been given a 30 notice to vacate. We have been on time with all our rent payments and we are only about half way into our lease. Is there any recourse financially with this matter?

I would need to review the lease and the applicable law. The contract may be voidable under law, thus relieving the parties of performance. Call or e-mail for further assistance.
