Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Utah
want to get out of lease because of roomates boyfriend that is not on lease
I was renting an apartment with 2 friends and one of the girls pretty much had her boyfriend living there. I finally moved out but I am still on the lease. It is a multiple persons lease so if I decided not to pay the rent then they would be responsible for it, but could they take me to small claims court. I also talked to the leasing office and they sent a letter up saying that he could not spend the night there anymore and if he did then we would be exicted, including me. I did not feel safe living there because the boyfriend was verbally abusive to me and at one point was selling marijuana out of our apartment. Is there a way I can get out of the lease wihtout getting evicted?

You need to get the landlord to release you or you will be held liable under most circumstances. I would need to review the lease for complete assurance of your rights and obligations. Call or e=mail for further assistance.
