Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Utah
I am renting a home that is going into foreclosure. I just received a notice yesterday on my door that the place i am renting is going to be auctioned on June 1, 2010. My lease will be up on December 1, 2010. I have paid my portion of the rent on time every month. I am on section 8 housing. We paid a deposit of $1250.00 to move in here. When can I ask for it back and what rights do i have as a tenant. We have put a lot of our own money into fixing up this place as well as cleaning it up.

The foreclosure process will terminate your lease. The new owner may or may not allow you to stay. You will have to get the deposit back from the former owner - probably by suing in small claims court.
