Family pet stolen by animal control officer
Our dog escaped and did not return one afternoon, so we called animal services the next day. They said no Alaskan Malamutes had been brought in, but that they had received a call the night before and sent an officer. But that the officer claimed the dog was gone when she arrived on the scene. We have an eye witness who is the one that called the pound and watched as the officer put our dog into her truck. Officer denied even seeing our dog so I informed her of the witness and her story changed several times. There is alot more to story but those are the basic facts.

You should immediately file a complaint with the "chief" of the animal control department and demand a complete investigation. If the department is anywhere near modern there will be logs from dispatch which should confirm some of your story. That, with the witness statement, should get you some resolution. Be polite, but firm.
