Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Utah

Methadone and Valium

The emergency room gave a dose of Methadone and 15 Valium for addiction. They set up to go to a methadone clinic for the addiction to pain killers. 8 days later he died from methadone poisoning. Valium also was in his system from the 8 pills he took the emergency room gave him. Medical examiner said it did not make much difference it was still methadone poisoning. Do they have a lawsuit?

Re: Methadone and Valium

There are not enough facts to make a decision. The test is whether the hospital/doctor breached the normal standard of care to this patient. The answer to the test is in the facts and background of the patient. If you have additional facts you may call for a free consultation. We will need to know whether the hospital knew what his methadone levels were in his body at the time the Rx was given, and whether the patient had took methadone after the Rx, of which the hospital had no knowledge.

I would need more information before a decision could be made.
