Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Automatic Renewal of Lease

I was not aware of the automatic renewal of my apartment lease. I found a new place to live, but was told that my lease runs until June of 2003. Are there any regulations as to the notice of this automatic renewal or the way that it is presented in a lease to make it stand out?

In an FAQ on this site (http://www.lawguru.com/faq/15.5.html) it says ''Note: Automatic-renewal clauses cannot be enforced unless they are printed In bold type and of a certain size.'' How can I find these regulations?

Re: Automatic Renewal of Lease

In Utah the lease agreement language governs the agreement. The law assumes that the signer reads and understands the terms of the agreement at the time of signing. If you do not agree to the terms you can negotiate the terms or refuse to sign. I am not aware of any "regulations" which require bold print.
