Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah
In the near future I might have to go to small claims and I would like to know where I stand. I do automotive body work and a guy approached me to do some for him on his old car. In trade for my labor he gave me an old truck. I did a small amount of work on his car before I was laid off from my job and could not finish. At that point I returned his car and the truck he gave me and charged him nothing. He has since contacted me and said that he bought the truck for me for $2000.00 and he sold it for $1300.00 and he wants me to pay him the $700.00 difference. My question is this, am I liable to pay him this?

No, you wouldn't be liable to him for that difference.
