Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

lien

There is a lien pending against my property. My attorney supposably is serving a summons against the party clamimg a cash debt to my husband now ex-husband. The property is in both my and his name. I did not sign this lien. This was back in Nov and has not happened, yet. What is involved in sreving a summons, and what is the standard cost?

Thank you,

Re: lien

A summons is drafted and signed by the attorney, then given to either a sheriff, constable, or other process server - who then delivers the summons to the named person. The person being summoned usually has about 2-3 weeks to respond. There is no standard cost. It will depend on the hourly rate your attorney charges. Generally the cost of personal service is about $25-50 depending on the number of tries it takes to get service.
