Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Mortgage confusion

I bought a home that was going to be sold to a State bond program. The lender that was approved to do thiss loan made many mistakes. A lot of typos in the contract. So it took along time to get the loand to the state bond department. In the mean time I tried to make my payments to the current leander. They informed me that I couldn't pay them and that I had to wait until it was sold to the stated bond department. To make a long story short they failed to sell it because of their mistakes. Now they want me to make all the back payments that they wouldn't take previous, plus late fees. Do I have rights here? Or am I at their mercy?

Re: Mortgage confusion

If you can document your attempts to make payment according to their instructions you should only pay the amount past due, without late charges, and should insist that they recalculate interest so you get credit as if you had made payments on time.

Hopefully you have the names and dates of the people with whom you spoke, and copies of checks you attempted to pay.

You may have to deal with a manager or other office to get the matter straightened out.
