Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Rent Increase

Is there a limit on the increase that a landlord can

impose at the end of your lease term?

I am at the end of my second lease term in my current

apartment. The first increase was $20 per month, the current increase is $185 per month, a 25% increase! That is if I sign a new lease if not the increase is $225 per month, a 30% increase!

I called their office and pretended to be a perspective client, they told me the average increase was no more $10 at the end of the average lease period.

Thank You!

Re: Rent Increase

There are no limits on rent increases unless there is a limit in the lease contract or unless the apartment is under rent control by a government agency.
