Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah
renting with sexual harrassment
okay, this is a soap opera! I just moved into a rental with someone I met on a roommates classified service. I am Male and she is Female, and thats what makes this problem so wierd. The first night she basically attacked me sexually. I told her that there was no way anything between me and her would happen, and she became very upset, saying that ''No one had every rejected her!''.. Later I discovered that she is mentally ill and on medication. I am really worried of what she is capable of. So anyways, I am on a lease for 6 months here and I am wondering if I have really any options legally to get her evicted, or get out of my contract. We are both on seperate leases.

Re: renting with sexual harrassment
One or the other of you should try to find someone to take over the lease. Legally you are bound to the lease as is your roommate. The lease will not give you a right to cancel based on the actions of a co-lessee. The landlord will tell you what your options are as far as getting someone to take your place. Your other choice is to buy your way out of the lease with the landlord.
