Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Tenant Law regarding breaking leases

I moved out of an apt. wiyhout notice 3 months bfore the lease was up. This was due to being harrassed by neighbors. I contacted the Sheriff's dept. 3 times. After each time vandalism was done to my van. The apt. management was told of the problem. They did nothing. Am I still required to pay the remainder of the lease even though the apt. got to be unliveable do to my neighbors.

Re: Tenant Law regarding breaking leases

This is a question which will have to be answered by a judge and jury. If the court finds that the level of harassment and vandalism would keep a reasonable person from being able to inhabit the apartment, then you may not be liable. The court will also consider whether you were responsible for any part of the cause of the harassment.
