Re: Time

A stalking petition usually results in the court issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO). After the TRO is served on the perpetrator, he/she has about 10 days to appear at a hearing to contest the TRO. If the perpatrator does not appear the TRO is made a permanent injunction. If the complaintant (you) does not appear, the TRO will be dismissed. Check with the court to see if the TRO was served and when the hearing date is scheduled. The police do not file stalking petitions - you should have done that with the court.
