Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Utah

Work Alone With Opposite Sex

I work the graveyard shift, and there is usually only two employees working in a secluded part of the office at this time. There is talk that they will be moving a female to this shift, which means that she and I (a male) would be working alone together.

While, I don't mind working with women, I am concerned about the legal ramifications of this situation. She could claim sexual harassment. There would be no witnesses and it would be my word against hers.

This could lead to a legal battle that I can't afford, and it could lead to irreparable harm to my reputation.

Is this something I should be concerned about? What are my rights if I decide to share my concern with my boss? Is my only option quitting without reason?

Your question is not so much legal as policy. Ask your employer to establish a policy that prevents this situation. Get your co-workers to support you. Don't forget spouses. If you make this a big enough issue, the employer should listen.
