Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Utah

Credit Card Debts

My husband has several credit cards that do not include my name on it and several with my name on it. I also have credit cards in my name only. Is the surviving spouse liable for any credit card balances? We also own cars that we brought into this marriage and own separately. My husband wants to give his son a car upon his death, I would like to keep it. Do I have any claim to the car as the surviving spouse or can he put in a will giving it to his son?

Re: Credit Card Debts

A co-owner of an account is liable for the balance on the death of the other owner. Premarital assets may be disposed of by the owner without the consent of the spouse.
