obtaining info

my father passed away in sept 09 i am his only child i live in a different state before i could secure his house he ex wife went in and took all papers he had no will i was notified that i am not the benifcery to his life insurance how would i go about getting information on who is the benifcery

The insurance company will pay out to the beneficiary of the policy. The only recourse for this is to contact the insurance company.

As far as the house, I suggest starting a Probate (if there is no will) to name you as the sole heir. There is no real shortcut to doing this if there was no will.

You need to open probate in the county where the house is located. You can apply to the court to get title to the home, and an order for the ex wife to turn over the stuff she took. The insurance company can advise who the beneficiary was. You may call for a free consultation.
