Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Utah
When paying funds to beneficiaries, out of a trust, do we need to collect social security numbers from those recipients? Large amount is available for family usage. When the money is distributed to individuals, do we first have to have their social security numbers before releasing any funds to them? It would be impossible to obtain them after the fact.
As Trustees of the Trust, do we need to file anything with the IRS regarding these individual disbursements?

You should collect the SSANs from those who receive funds from the trust. You need to file annual tax returns for the trust, and this info will be needed
