Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Vermont
Illustration Licensing
Hi,
I'm going to be licensing an illustration of mine to a company for one-time use. I would like to be able to license the same illustration at the same time to other companies, should the occasion arise. I was hoping to buy a licensing contract through FindLegalForms, but want to make sure that I can add language that would allow me to license to multiple companies at the same time. Do I just need to stipulate that this contract is not exclusive?
Thanks.

You can do that or you can have an attorney prepare your agreement.

No. You must stipulate that this is NOT a work for hire and that all copyright ownership is retained by you. This is a non-exclusive one time use for which they will not own any further rights to use your illustration. I would stipulate that and indicate the time and use parameters carefully. (Legal forms are ok for standard contracts, but IP issues, especially in the flux area of copyrights are often a potential trap for the unwary. Good luck.
