Am i going to jail for theft of service charge for the amount of 978.00 I live in Vermont.

You will go to jail only if charged and found guilty.
This sounds like a real posibility, so if you think you're in trouble, try to talk about restitution in advance of being charged and then get a lawyer, who might be able to negotiate on your behalf.
