Broken engagement
Two people are engaged to be married and an engagement ring is given. The man breaks off the engagement. Is the women obligated to return the engagement ring?

Maybe. Maybe not. Depends upon the reasons and circumstances of the ring giving and the break up.
However, unless the value of the ring is NEEDED to offset ACTUAL "out of pocket" expenses, paid by the woman respecting the engagement or wedding prep, the "engagement ring" generally, should be returned.
