Legal Question in Insurance Law in Vermont

Compensation after a car accident

I was a passenger in a car accident on 11-20-07. I suffered minor bumps and bruises and missed two days work due to it. I have been trying to file a claim with the insurance company but I leave messages that don't get returned for two-three days and it seems I'm not important enough to them. Now, a scheduled meeting with the adjuster has been canceled due to ''more pressing things to do''. How much longer should I wait before getting legal representation to deal with the insurance company?

Re: Compensation after a car accident

Deal with them only in writing. Send a letter to the defendant driver, and a copy to the insurer. Request a written response within two weeks.

They are very busy and it is unreasonable to expect them to drop everythin for a minor claim. However, three weeks is long enough for a response, so you can always go to small claims court if you don't get satisfaction soon enough.
