Re: i dont know where i stand

Hi: Your landlord has 14 days after you move out to return your full deposit to you. If he does not return the deposit, he must, within the 14 days, provide you with a written itemization of what items he is claiming for damages as the amount withheld for each item. If he does not do this within the 14 days, you are entitled to all of your deposit back.

As for back rent, you should demand an accounting from your landlord of all rents paid and make sure that there is no possibility that you did not pay the rent for the months claimed.

You can obtain more information on renters' rights by contacting the State of Vermont and asking them to refer you to the renters' rights group nearest you.
