Legal Question in Insurance Law in Virginia
Am I obligated to sign a release on auto repairs
I was involved in an accident when a driver ran a red light which resulted in $8,000 front end damage to my 3 week old car on which I had made the first payment. The car is being repaired now. OI know it will never be my ''new'' car again and I would like to know if I have to sign a release when repairs are ''completed''. I know that often there are damages that show up only after the car is on the road again. I do not want to have that happen to me. So I would like to know if I am required to sign a release that ''all'' damages have been repaired before I am able to drive the car away. Thanks !!

Re: Am I obligated to sign a release on auto repairs
I would not sign such a release until you have a second opinion from a mechanic. Was there frame damage etc.? Since your car is very new, you are also entitled to claim dimunition in value even if repeairs are perfect simply because a newer vehicle with significant (even though repaired)damage has a diminshed market value. Call me for further details.
