Paid Time Off / Annual Carryover

An employee has an excess amt of carryover PTO. Do they use or loose before Dec 31st?

Paid vacation time is a voluntary benefit that organizations offer to employees. There are no federal or Virginia regulation requiring employers to provide vacation days, so as this is an employee benefit and not earned compensation for work performed the company can require that it be used in the year acquired.
