Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Virginia

I am in a dispute over a stud service I gave from my American Pit Bull Terrier. My initial fee for the stud service was $500 but after talking with the owner of the bitch, we came to an agreement where he would give me two of the puppies from the litter and I would waive the stud fee. I did this when I noticed that he did not have the proper paperwork to be breeding his dog. Curious to what kind of puppies my dog would produced we agreed on the two puppy deal. The breeding took place on 10-02-2009 and we both signed two agreements. I have the ad from the internet that shows what my initial stud fee was and pictures of our dogs mating and in a tie(a process in which the dogs genitals are stuck together for a period of time after successfully mating). We also signed another contract on 11-21-2009 stating that he would give me two puppies. The puppies were born today which is 12-07-2009 and the owner of the bitch has refused to carry out his part of the contract. What type of action can I take to receive my compensation for the stud service.

You could probably sue this SOB in small claims court for either your standard fee of $500 or the value of the two puppies, whichever is greater + the costs of filing the suit.
