Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Virginia
oth discharge
My son is in the Marines at Camp Lejuene. He is been in almost a year. He was driving on base under the influence of alcohol and was grounded to his barracks for 3 months. He reported to work every morning, but other than that could not leave the barracks except to check in every couple of hours. Once he snuck out to Burger King and was caught and severly reprimanded and the time extended to barracks. Now he snuck out to go to Taco Bell. He is now in the Brig. He has been told that his choices are to take a plea and recieve less than honorable discharge or take it to trial and probably receive bad conduct discharge. He really does want to stay in the Marines and has asked if he could stay in. His lawyer said those were the only choices. Do you know of any other possibities? Is there room to negotiate and he be allowed to re-join when he matures a little more?

Why not ask his lawyer to look into your suggestion?
