Legal Question in Banking Law in Virginia
Bonus!
I was dismissed from my job a few days ago. At that time we were expecting a bonus from all work done in 2005 (Jan. 1-Dec.31) all of which I was employed. I'm now being told that I will not be paid out a bonus from the work I did last year because I have to be employed on the day they pay it out although my work counted toward the year end goal. Is this something I can pursue in court?

Re: Bonus!
Good Morning,
I would need more information to answer your question. For one thing, is there anything in writing regarding the bonus policy? Is it even a policy or just a "custom"?. It does seem questionable that you would have to be employed after the bonus period to earn the bonus. What if you had resigned effective Dec. 31st, would you have been denied a part of the bonus?
