my husband and I were making over 100k per year we were told we did not qualify, my hours just got cut and I can't afford my bills but was told I would have to show 6 months of paychecks, how do we manage in the mean time?

It is very possible that the person who told you that you don't "qualify" for chapter 7 missed some deductions on the means test, or that a good argument for "special circumstances" could be made. Feel free to contact us (we practice bankruptcy law throughout Va.) and we will see if a chapter 7 will work for you. The alternative would be a chapter 13, which in many cases works better anyway because of the additional things that can be done in a 13 in terms of restructuring certain secured and priority (non-dischargeable) debt.
