Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia
Bankruptcy
My husband and I just moved from Colorado to Virginia and are contemplating filing for bankruptcy. We moved due to the fact that we both were laid off. I was laid off due to September 11th and he was laid off due to cut backs. We are not sure if we need to file in Virginia or Colorado. We are in debt up to our necks.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Bankruptcy
You can file in Virginia if you have been a resident in a jurisdiction for more than 91 days. You certianly welcome to retain our office to handle the matter. (703) 838 9004
Re: Bankruptcy
You file in the location where you have lived for the greatest part of the last 180 days. Virginia exemptions are not great, so if you can still file in CO, you may be better off doing that (I have not compared the exemptions, but you should do so quickly so you still have the choice, if it does matter).
