Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia
Bankruptcy and Social Security Disability payments
I have been notified by the Social Security Administration that I owe over $60,000 for disability benefits they now say that I was not eligible for. I am considering filing for bankruptcy because I would not be able to pay this amount or any amount even close to that.
I know that most tax debts are not discharged by filing for bankruptcy. My question is are disability benefit debts wiped out by filing for bankruptcy.
Many thanks

Re: Bankruptcy and Social Security Disability payments
Unless you fraudulently obtained the overpayment, it would be dischargeable.
