Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia
What happens to your credit if a spouse files bankruptcy?
My wife and I own two homes. The one we live in and a rental property. Due to some bad tenants we are behind on our payments in the rental property. My wife is the only person on the mortgage but we both are on the deed. Similarly, I am the only one on our home mortgage but we both are on the deed. My question is if my wife files bankruptcy to get out of the mortgage of the rental property what will happen to my credit and can the bank come after our house?

It should not impact you, but it depends on how everything is documented. See a bankruptcy lawyer to go over the matter.
