Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia

Debt

I am considering filing bankruptcy due to credit card debt. I recently was forced to make a job change with a 50 % cut in pay due to a Hostile Work Environment. I was not able to file charges due to the employer having under 15 employees.

Due to this change in employment, I have very few options to keep up my bills. My question is - I was contacted by one of the online companies called Credit Solutions of America. They say this is a better solution for me than to file for bankrupcy. My concern is can credit card companies garnish my wages and/or take my house and car by using this Company? Do you know if this is a legal way to handle my situation or a scam?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Re: Debt

Any creditor can still sue you at any time while using the services of these companies. You can only stop legal creditor action with the filing of a petition in the US Bankruptcy Court.

75% of my practice is bankruptcy and many of the people I deal with have struggled in these types of programs with no hope of success.

Consult with an attorney to discuss your options.
