Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia

Joint BK but debtors in separate states

I'm preparing a petition for joint debtors. The wife lives in VA and her husband lives in DC. Can a joint petition be filed? How do you separate the income and expenses? Need answers ASAP.

If you are a lawyer, I would suggest that there are more appropriate forums to ask this sort of question of other lawyers. If you are not a lawyer, you should not be preparing bankruptcy petitions. That said, yes, a joint petition can be filed; you need to figure out how (and if) you have to separate income and expenses - it would depend on the facts.
