Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Virginia
newly married couple filing bankruptcy
I was recently married. My wife and I both have a lot of debt from our past as well as our time together. We are looking into jointly filing chapter 7 bankruptcy. Would doing that cover all of the debt of our past?

Re: newly married couple filing bankruptcy
Yes. A joint Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharges joint debt and individual debt of both spouses. Really, it's just two cases filed as one for convenience. We handle bankruptcy cases throughout Va., and would be pleased to consult with you regarding this matter.
