My ex partner (same-sex) and I are on the mortagage. Do to the housing situation we could not refinance to take off my name. She is now filing bankruptcy, how will this affect me and any assets I now have?

Since Virginia law neither recognizes nor confers any legal status on the relationship described with respect to debt obligations nor other related legal issues with respect to the individuals involved, your ex-partner's pending banckruptcy should have no effect on you or your assets (in my opinion).
