Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

I have a boutique in the state of Virginia. I do have a business license as well as a tax id. I have a variety of jewelry, handbags, crafts, antiques and home decor. I purchase items at online wholesale sites, online as well as onsite auctions, estate sales, goodwill, tradeshows, etc. I have purchased designer handbags as well as deisigner jewelry at goodwill, online and at estate sales. I then resale them in my shop. I do not know if the items are authentic or replicas. Someone told me that it was illegal for me to resale these items. I have searched online for an answer and have found many different results. How can wholesalers sell items for retailers if it is illegal for them to be sold? I read that it is ok to sell replicas as longs as you let the consumer know that it is a replica. Do I need to have my customers sign a form stating that I purchase items at these various outlets and that I cannot guarantee theie authenticity. I am just very confused. I do not want to do anything illegal. But how do I know what is illegal. Thanks

Just posting a sign in your shop(and on your website if you have one)regarding the disclaimer which you've suggested should be sufficient(in my opinion).
