Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
business question
I am a virginia resident and am about to create a corporation. Do I have the ability or freedom to create and do the ''paperwork'' in VA but run the operation in CA? Or if not, do I have to have an company address in VA and still run my operation out of CA? It is a dot com operation/service (if that makes a difference)

Re: business question
You can set up the corporation anywhere and do business anywhere. If you are doing business in a state other than the one where the corp. is organized, you need to register the corporation there. There are advantages and disadvantages of doing this (principal disadvantage is that you are subject to tax in both states, which could cost you more and increase complexity). See a lawyer and your tax adviser before deciding how to proceed.
