How do you change the name of a church?

Re: church name
Presumably, the church is a corporation. To change the name, you must amend the articles of incorporation filed with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
You will then also need to NOTIFY everyone and I mean everyone such as the local government, IRS, etc.
Before doing this, however, you need to make sure you go through any procedures required by your bylaws or other policies for reaching a decision to change the name.
