Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
contracted for sidewalk, patio, frnch drain etc. Paid 1/2 to this point. Contractor has been on job a month when he should have been done in a week. I have told him I want all finished by end of week but he has not showed up at all this week. Can I cancel the contract for non-performance and use the remaining funds to hire another contractor to finish the job?

Yes, it would seem so based upon your description of the facts, but you should endeavor to retain as much documentation as you can muster regarding the situation which caused you to have to fire the non-perfroming guy and hire his replacement to finish the job.
