Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

I am writing a book and need to include part of a song - a portion of the lyrics and part of the sheet music (for educational purposes). Do I need permission from the person who holds the copyright?

Re: Copyright Law
Yes, indeed, you do if you wish to avoid possible legal consequences that could come from your failure to obtain the appropriate permission from the current copyright holder.

Re: Copyright Law
Yes, absolutely. Also, in light of the serious consequences that exist in the event copywright laws are violated I strongly advise that you consult with an attorney.
