Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
Death of a Business Partner
My business partner passed away in his home country while visiting. Before he left, he and his wife were divorced but were on good terms and planned to open a business together. In our Partnership Agreement, he left his part of the business to his ''wife'' without her specific name mentioned. Now that they are divorced, what should I do legally? Does she have any rights or should the share go to his family in another country? What choices do I have?

Re: Death of a Business Partner
You really do not give enough specifics for an attorney to answer the question properly. Is there a will? What does it say? I would guess that if there is no will then under intestate succession the ex-wife would take nothing. I suggest seeking the help of the probate court. Speak with an attorney and let a probate judge decide.
