Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
Deposit at auto dealer?
I made a $2000 deposit to a car dealer in the state of Va to purchase a vehicle, telling him I needed time to get the financing together. Not agreeing to any specific time frame (but for a few weeks); when I called to come pick up the car; the dealer said he has sold the car. He has refused to return my deposit citing the length of time I took. How do I get my money back or am I entitled to the refund? Please help!

You should consider hiring an attorney and filing suit if necessary.
Re: Deposit at auto dealer?
The purpose of the deposit is obviously to hold the car for you, and not sell it to someone else.
So you can use him in General District Court for return of the $2000. You fill out a Warrant in Debt form.
If you pay more to buy the same car somewhere else, you can also sue them for the additional amount you have to pay.
If there was no agreement as to a deadline, a few weeks delay makes no difference. And it would not affect return of the deposit in any event.
