Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

I entered into a verbal contract with another construction company to construct a boardwalk. I prepared the bid and supplied the labor for the job. The other company supplied the material. We agreed since the checks would be written to.the other company we would pay my guys from his checking account basically it was all our money. Once everyone was paid we would split the profits. Towards the end of the job the other company decided to.cut me out and continue to.pay my guys. I told them to stop work which they did. I spoke with the other company and they told.me i would get paid we needed to finish the job. I agreed again on the basis i would get paid. They have not responded to me in a month and i did not have a written contract do i have any legal recourse
