Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia
Fired verses Resigning
Commonwealth of Virgina
I was fired today when I gave my letter of resignation. When the company HR people realized the CEO fired me, they changed the wording on the termination paperwork to resigned. I refused to sign along with my boss, both were told by the CEO I was fired. I know I was leaving anyways, but does this change my ability to draw unemployment benifits?

Re: Fired verses Resigning
If you were fired first, you should be eligible for unemployment compensation, but if you resigned your position before being fired, you may not be under these circumstances.
