Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

Hi my name is Mike, in January of 2008 i signed up with Mitchell International for an estimating system for my auto body shop, no one discussed the terms of the contract with me and when i had to close my body shop down Augest of this year they will not release me from my contract, they say the contract is binding and want me to pay them $3000.00 or continue my service. the contract was for 3 years and is auto renueing without written notice to cancel before the experation of the contract, I think it is verry unethecial for a buisness as big as Mitchell to get a choke hold on a single man with a small buisness trying to make a living and when his buisness failes try to make him pay a large sum of money (that i do not have) or hold him to his contract. they are taking food from my familys table and do not seem to care. I could understand if i was just trying to dump them and sign with someone elese before my contract has expired but this is not the case. This is what is wrong with the economy today big business has a strangle hold on the small guy and will not let him breathe, I am ashamed that our leagle system allowes big buisness to use these kind of tacticks, someone with some power to do something about this should do so to protect the small guy. but i could go on all day, (FOREVER) about the matter but all i need now is to know is there a way out of this problem without ruining my credit. Just trying to survive and provide for my family, Mike Mathis the small guy

Better have a lawyer review the contract and the relevant facts surrounding its execution, and who then should be able to advise you, accordingly, as to what your options might be (if any).
