Legal Question in Business Law in Virginia

Personal Property Stolen from Work

I used my personal laptop to do my job for my employer. In the course of doing my job I had to access web-based programs and create and access documents. After hours my computer was stolen from the work location. A suspect was charged and convicted. My employer tells me that they have reported it to their insurance company and the laptop was covered but they have to pay a $1000.00 deductible. I have given all information requested by my employer concerning the computer. I have made mutable request to my employer to replace the computer. I even brought in another computer to do my job until the laptop was replaced. I have left the company. Upon leaving I asked that we settle the issue. I have been told that they are working on it but they have not told me what they are doing to resolve the situation. I have waited eight months with no resolution. At the time of purchase the laptop with software cost an est. $3000.00. The laptop was two years old. I dont know how to proceed.

Please advise.

Thank you.
